How is Oxwall running with many users online, on a shared server? | Forum

Hi everyone,

I have looked in server requirements, but there is no answer to my question in there. I have also been looking throug the forums, and I havent been able to find anything that could be answering my questions.

I just want to know if the oxwall resources are too heavy, to be running on a good shared server?

I am running a site with skadate, and they just released a lite version running on oxwall.
Therefore I need to know how oxwall is running with users online?

I myself started out with a good shared server, but because of lack of servar power, I could not have more than 25-30 users online at the same time. The error I got was max_queries_per_hour (130000). First it was set to 100000, But I got it raised to 130000, but that did not help.

I therefore had to move to a vps, which helped alot. But it is a little expensive, so I really really hope that this oxwall version, could be running on a good shared server.

I have already looked at the server requirements, but in there it does not say anything about the server load and requirements to have a stable site, with multiple users, using it at the same time.

So my question is something like.
what is your experience with oxwalls server load? can it be run on a good shared server, if lets say 50-100 users are online at the samte time? is it loading slowly?

Kind regards,
Jesper

my test site at A2hosting.com (USA server)... seem slow and slower if i add more plugin/widget.

Maybe i call website from Thailand too. I think co-location type of hosting will great speed than this.. (at this time - just only me use this website, i can't imagine how bad speed will be if 20-30 user online)
How about my web speed..? just click www.0814266855.com to test.. I don't know how many clients in the same this server (speed like many hundred :-) )

Jesper,

To handle a significant amount of concurrent users, we recommend you to use VPS or dedicated server. You may check our recommended hosting providers as well. Shared accounts will do only for 10-15 users only.

Jesper, not all servers are created equal, and not all users are the same as well.

I.E. A dell SC1425 blade server is not the same as a 32Gig 4 each quad core processor server... or never mind that how about a rack of servers as one virtual server woo hoooo

A user looking at the wall is way different than a user who is uploading videos...

Oxwall is fairly lean as far as server load, especially when you consider how many features are available and how dynamic the content is... That being said, depending on how many users are concurrently logged and of course what it is they are doing, you will need an adequate server and adequate bandwidth.

If you have slow response times take a look at your server spec's and performance. Check your server logs as well. You may need to upgrade your server in order to handle the needs of your site.
