'In a relationship with' Option[Answered] | Forum

My members when signing up, designate whether they are single or are part of a couple. I looked through the plugins and couldn't find what I was looking for, but is there anyway to match up accounts to say who you are in a  relationship with? Not just entering in a name, but if you are in a relationship with someone else on the site, just how facebook makes the other party confirm that you are in fact in a relationship with that person?

Joshua, this requires custom code modifications.

As far as I remember, we used to have a plugin called something like "Family-Friends" where you could specify your family members. Developer has deleted the plugin. I think it was Aron. May be you can contact him and see whether he can give/sell you this plugin or help you to developer a new one.

As an alternative why not just add an optional profle question for this so that the users can fill it in if they wish.   Not even FB process is automatic, someone has to type in something even for FB.

That was my first thought, but as my site scales, it would be impossible to keep up and make sure that people are actually in relationships with the people they say they are.

Why would you want to take responsibilty for that, IMO thats not the purpose of an admin to regulate that sort of info.  Your function as an admin should be soley to make sure members do not violate the TOS.  Other than that they should be able to put on their profile what the want.

You should not IMO burden yourself with that.  If someone complains about someone saying that and it is not true, then you can issue a warning to the user to remove the information.

I appreciate your sentiment, but it is absolutely something I do want to control, not only as an admin, but a member of my own site. Sure, I could take on complaints one by one, but my sorry is anyone trying to pass off as someone's spouse and the other person never realizing it (thus I never receive a complaint to know it's going on).

Anyways, I would still be interested in finding out if anyone has access to such a feature or would help code such a thing.

create a post in the custom code modification section of the forum, probably some developer would like to help you or already working on that.

Its good someone did this finally, but honestly i wish it was a different developer.  This developer is NOT known for great customer support just fyi..  I hope he proves me wrong.

He might be ok for a day or two, then he just dissappears for weeks or months and you cant get help for nothing, so good luck... Yep i hope he makes me eat my words, cause thats better for you all if you get help when you need it.

He also pads his comments and only shows the good ones, he deletes anything that is neg on his mods.

I wish people would stop putting everything in the profile buttons like gifts, poke, etc its starting to fill up and look real junkie where other sites have way more features than mine and look great because its all setup proper

We have that plugin in a relationship and it doesnt work , the php script has errors in it, the developer placed the bad words filet with in the relationship plugin , it stays on your site for a couple hours then eventually disappears, we have contacted the developer for the past 3 days and hes been ignoring all emails and inquiries on fixing the issue.

and dave he hasnt proved you wrong he is very unprofessional,, I had contacted him 3 days ago about the plugin, he replied once of what is your site link, gave it to him have heard nothing back, I went into the php to see if I could fix the issue and unfort  its a cluster mess, I dont know know if he was to busy but the script is based on his bad words filter plugin not  the plugin  I bought, so now My members have to wait on him fixing the issue which he hasnt done , if your going to be a developer and sell ur plugins on oxwall  you need to make yourself available when there are issues esp when money is exchanged, not very happy at the moment and feeling slightly ripped off.

Thanks for the input amber or liz, i have reported him to the team members to get with him on doing a better job.  I suggest everyone with issues do the same.  I dont know why developers leave their test code that is commented out in their files, but im constantly deleting it, it looks unprofessional and there is no reason to have it in there on a final release.  He is also bad about  constantly mispelling words in the language files, sometimes its a total hack job that i have to fix.   I don't mind on free plugins but when i pay $15 for a plugin and he turns his back on me and ignores my messages when im trying to help him, i wont stand for that, its horrible service and i think the team should give him notice, do a better job or go sell your stuff somewhere else.    He pads his store with only good comments never anything negative, he insists that you PM him so that noone sees the issue.  And he gets his money and then wont help you, or one day he might when he feels like it weeks or months later.

In my personal and professional opinion  Kairat Bakitow  does not represent what Oxwall is about and he gives all developers a bad name.

This is why it's ridiculous. 10 bucks for an 'in a relationship' plugin, and it doesn't even work and there's no support.

Very very troubling...
