my users have found a bug when they block another user that user can still view their profile and both users can see each others posts in the newsfeed which kind of makes blocking a user useless

I agree. Currently, what blocking does is removes the ability of the blocked user from leaving comments on their activities/photos etc... or contacting/message the person who blocked them.

Originally "Blocked user" feature was designed this way. Whatever happens on main newsfeed, is visible to everybody.
