Does anyone know how I would get my member's tiny avatar thumbnail to show up when I put their profile link in a simple custom html widget?

Example:

I want to list my site's supporting members. I make a sidebar widget from a simple "custom html" widget and make the html link to their profile, the username as the anchor.

I would love to be able to make it show up like it does around the site; with the small avatar next to their username.

Can anyone help?
