Jerome, Internal Server Error could not have been caused by the changes you were doing in your .htaccess file, since you did remove the custom RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !/test.php line. And as I understand right now you have default .htaccess file which used to work previously and is not working now.

Hi,
I also experienced similar problem with the mailer. My ISP is JustHost.
My test.php ran without any error, and got myself a blank page. But no email received.
There's nothing much in my .htaccess file only these:
# Use PHP5 Single php.ini as defaultAddHandler application/x-httpd-php5s .php
