Is there an update for this plugin? Is there something to do about this problematic exposure of privacy in the Newsfeed?!

If members put all their privacy settings on "Only Friends", and they put a message on their profile or anywhere else, the message appears on their Newsfeed and can be read by non friends too! We are now losing members because of this, because very private messages were visible for friends-of-friends too!!

Martin, I think that you are referring to the fact that when user posts something into the newsfeed located in their profiles, this item gets also posted on site's main newsfeed where it is visible for all site users.
If this is the case, then that is how Oxwall works by default. "View profile newsfeed" privacy settings applies only to the newsfeed's component on profile's page. Eliminating profile newsfeed's items from main newsfeed will require complex modifications. I have passed this over to product development team. New feature might be included in one of the upcoming builds.
