If I open a picture with the popup then it wants to share the photo's page, and not the page of the photo itself, can I change this somehow?

Strange. If you go ahead and share this photo>> then click on it on FB>> where will you be redirected? Should be www.sitename.com/photo/view/39#.Ut32GQnnCTo.facebook ; where 39 is photo ID.
