Hi All,
I dont know if its only me but i have noticed plugins that were free that i downloaded from the store few months ago are now no longer FREE. I see an update notification on my dashboard but when i try to update i hit with this
"The plugin is commercial, to update it please enter license key and press 'Update' button."
I feel this is unfair for those who already downloaded the plugin .... its like going to a Restaurant and you are offered a free dish after you eat then they say..."Sorry sir but you now have to pay for what you ate"
I tried to contact the Developers and they dont respond cause the plugins dont work well with 1.6 Oxwall, I know with paid plugins the license key you get from your"My Purchases" on oxwall, So my question is why dont developers give the license key to those who already downloaded their plugins before they commercialised it ?
Or am i talking nonsense ?

I am sure you are free to use the un-updated version. Sometimes when the developer has to go back and put more work into it they feel they should get paid. I can understand why they would feel that way. Think of it as you have the Free appetizer and if your still hungry then you should pay for the full course. :)

People should not offer free plugins ,and then ask for payment to upgrade ,without stating there well be a charge for any upgrade on the free plugin page view,if you live in there country you could take legal action against the plugin developer if it causes you loss of members or loss of your website use,through there action.

ok. When l try to update l have to put the license key. Two problems :
1) when l bought l have not been sent any key !!
2) if l had that key it means l have to pays for the update. How much ? I don't know. The only thing l know is that the price for buying the lite.skadate has increased. (I already have it from 9/2013)
I wrote the support and still wait for explanations. I might have missed something !!
I must add something because l do not want any misunderstanding : l trust in Oxwall future and l will not change it for any else software :)

1.6 is a free update here on oxwall ,if you or using Skadate you or paying for there services,Skadate is commercial

License Key for all plugins you bought can be found here : http://www.oxwall.org/store/granted-list
Whenever you buy a plugin you get a generate license key automatically after you paypa via paypal it will re-direct you to your "My Purchses" tab on the oxwall store :)
FREE Plugins its different you get get a license key thats why i complained about developer giving free plugins that your site depends on once you are hooked on it, come the update they wanna charge you for it which is unfair and unethical.

I do agree and we should even complain to Oxwall foundation for that.

I bought directly from lite.skadate.com via visa and I was not redireted to any website. Something must have been missed... still waiting for their answer

you well have to deal with lite.skadate.com,its different from this oxwall website ,tell them you want a refund and get your money back and use oxwall instead

That is way too much...all these plugins you mentioned you can get them cheaper here if not free on oxwall. Im hosting my own oxwall site with siteground and the start from $2.99 when you get more members and your site gets busy then you can upgrade and their prices are reasonable and oxwall works fine with me.....!!!

all the prices l tell you l got them from oxwall/store. The thing is l am feeling frustrated to pay again the updated plugins l already paid and even did not use them yet :( let's see tomorrow what they are going to say...

This way you wont find yourself in a situation whereby you overpaid...and the next thing while browsing you see an alternative plugin with simialr features but cheaper.
Competition kills monopoly when it comes to such things... before i buy a new plugin i first give it a month to see reviews and if there will be alternatives if not then i can buy.

Ok If I as A developer make a free plugin for you guys to use on 1.5.3 then the work is done that is ok. Later down the road If I have to update that plugin for use on 1.6 and it takes MY work and My Time and I feel MY PRODUCT is then worth a few bucks for MY hard work then why is that not ok. You are welcome to use the old version or pay to have your own custom version. I have never started charging for a free plugin but I can understand why some do. Stop expecting everything for free. lol

Ok.Why don't you warn yr customers that your plugin may be turned to paid product ? That's fair and costs you nothing but even gives you a good image. :)
