After Upgrading to 1.6 oxwall 500 internal server error | Forum

Joshua
Joshua Mar 16 '14
Hi,

I finally installed Oxwall ver 1.6 to my site the other day, but as soon as I did. I got a 500 internal server error. I've been looking through my files in my cPanel, and tried changing the permissions and no fix. I restored my files from a month ago and still nothing. What permissions are cache files supposed to have or can I just delete all the cache files in my file manager?  Totally lost at this point as I've been at it for 2 days now.

Joshua, can you please enable debug mode, to see the actual errors and paste them here?

After I enable it in config where to I actually find the errors?  Sorry, just not too familiar with debug mode.

Just enter the page where you saw 500 internal server error before, the errors should be displayed there at least.

Hi Ross,

I have the same problem, but a different debug log:

Daniel, this error means that the update has not been successfully completed. You need to restore your backup first, then deactivate all third-party plugins and go to www.yourdomain.com/ow_updates. If the error persist, please PM me your admin and FTP access details, I'll try to assist you with that.

Ross, thanks so much. Unfortunately I never ran a backup. I've checked and could export the database with PhPmyAdmin. Should I do that, i.e. follow the migration tutorial, and see if that works? Or might I break something else, since I didn't backup before the attempted update? I've never had trouble with automatic updates, that's how I've become so careless. Thanks again, Daniel

Ok, I tried to run the update process again, seems like the error is gone, please check.

By the way, I see you tried to delete the attribution, are you eligible to do that?

wow, thanks! You're a star!

Am not sure what attribution is thus don't know if I am eligible (and whether I tried deleting it).

The link and image at the bottom of the webpage (oxwall software) you should donate $50 to be eligible to remove it from your website.

Ross, I am very proud to run the network platform on oxwall, I have no reason to remove or conceal it. As far as I can see it is there, too. I have a wordpress platform at www.saspen.org and oxwall at saspen.org/network. Anything under the latter should have the attribution. Where did you see it removed? I'll fix it asap. In fact I'll mention it on the wordpress where people are directed to oxwall at www.saspen.org/get-involved

Well, when I go on any page, there's a link, but the image link is broken, like you removed it from the folder. Please revert the changes.

Ross, the links work for me. I'd be happy to fix it in the folder, too, if I knew what folder you mean. Please advise!
