ow_install folder for (Version 1.6)[Answered] | Forum

Hybrid Mar 20 '14
I have a question in regards to the ow_install folder for the latest version 1.6.

Once we have installed oxwall onto our server, do we still need this folder and the contents (files/folders) within it?  Or are we safe to delete and get rid of it?

If we no longer have it, will it cause any issues?

Looking forward to hearing your reply.

Kind Regards,

You are supposed to delete it, as if you don't it's somewhat of a security issue. If you install Oxwall via cPanel and Softaculous it gets deleted for you. If you are worried about deleting it just rename it to ow_install_# or something else not easily guessable.

Thank you for your response.  I had deleted it a day or two after installation, but I was simply unsure if doing so would have resulted in errors and/or issues.  It's been about a month or so since I deleted it - but wanted to follow up in case I wasn't supposed to delete it.

I'm glad to hear that we were supposed to delete it ;)
