Error Upgrading to 1.7 e500 Server Error [Solved] | Forum

I've done what Gary said, but it does not work for me and neither has Softaculous. I keep getting the e500 error. I've done everything mentioned in this post and still nothing.

Shamica, you need to disable all third-party plugins, switch to the default theme and do the update www.domain.com/ow_updates. if you get e500 error, enable debug mode to see the actual error, copy it here, so we could assist you

I've done what you said and it didn't work so I enabled debug mode and this is what it has.

Your update has not been successfully completed, you need to restore your backup and do the update again.

Okay, I've done what you said Ross, and still the same thing. I'm going to try the manual update again, but before I do, I have a question to make sure I'm on the right page. Would I extract the 1.7 core update to the public_html folder or home? Now my 1.6 installation is in the public_html folder, but I just want to make sure I'm extracting the update in the right section.
