maybe the folder that the attachment is stored has wrong permisions

Do you have the latest messages plugin version? If yes, please PM me your admin and FTP details, I will take a closer look at your issue. If no, please do the update.

Also can you try to deactivate/reactivate plugin and see if the error persists.
