User Hint conflict with OxArt Advanced SEO URL rewrite for "users" | Forum

I'd posted in the plugin forum but was not receiving any feedback at all from the developer - maybe the plugins been abandoned?

Wondering if others are seeing as many conflicts with stock Oxwall functionality with this plugin?  For example, the notifications and messages dont seem to work anymore.  I have had many friend requests and approvals which are not showing up.  I am also noticing that Messages are not showing up as notifications as well.

Anyone else seeing this?

hey Rob

I have just updated CORE to 1.7.1 and have updated all plugins and the 5 themes with NO issues. I am using a total of 15 plugins including:

Active Plugins, Activity notifications, Blogs, Events, Friends, Forum, Groups, Image Slideshow, Messages, Newsfeed, Photo, Social media sharing, User Hint, Video player in newsfeed and Video.

I have NO issues, have you updated yet to 1.7.1? Maybe this will fix your issue. Make sure to update all "Plugins" after core update, then update all "Themes" after plugin updates.

Thanks, Wilson.  Your feedback is much appreciated.  To confirm, your notifications work and User Hint fine with the SEO plugin?

I am NOT at 1.7.1 yet.  I am not getting any update notification in my panel but do see that 1.7.1 has been released.  Where would this update notification appear?

Well I just manually updated to 1.7.1 (not sure why I am not getting an update notification in admin since I've triple checked the cron job but that's another post) and still no love on the OxArt SEO.  All plugins updated (assuming I am getting the notifications properly).

As before, User Hint does not function and member profiles are 404s.  I'm going to assume same issues with the notifications.  It's too bad because I really could use the URL rewrite and this seems to be an abandoned plugin.

I don't use SEO plugin but yes both notifications and User Hint work fine on my server.

Try this, just as a test. go to http://www.oxwall.org/download and download the new version 1.7.1 and do a fresh install using the new version. New database...new everything just as a test site...see what you get? Maybe seeing you did a manual install something got corrupted.

Just a thought

Oh man I forgot I installed Oxwall through my webhost's Softalicious installer.  Later last night I did get an email reminder from the host about updating.  That may be why I didn't see an update notification in the admin panel?  I had tried many times installing locally but ran into this error loop.  I wonder if the Softalicious installation is causing issues.

Great idea Wilson, I will try that when I get home later.

hey Rob,

No...you should see the update in the Admin panel in your oxwall site...hmmm may have to wait for the dev team to help you on this. I'm kinda new to oxwall...been working on it for about 6-8 months now but do know a few tricks...lol

Let me know how the test site goes, hope it works! If not, take a few screen shots of your issue and post as much details here...this gives the team an ideal of what's going on...just an FYI!

GAH!  Updated everything and all plugins, went fine.  STILL no love with this SEO plugin.  I so want it to give the site that extra polish.  I will try your suggestion Wilson cos others definitely have been able to use this along with the same plugins without issues.

Ok just tried a fresh vanilla install through my host (via Softalicious).  The only third-party plugins I installed were the SEO plugin first and then the User Hint plugin.  STILL same problem.  I can't access the user profile and I do not get the user hint.  I'm wondering if this has something to do with the Softalicious install.  I will try again to install locally but I always get this error loop.  I also wonder if it has something to do with the URL rewrites I'm doing renaming "users" in http://mywebsite.com/user/rob_r to another word that better matches the theme of the site.

Ok ... its my rewrite of the URL.  I'm guessing the User Hint script is specifically calling /users/ so rewriting it causes some issues.  I'll run this by the developer and also see if I can change the title of this thread.

Rob, these are third party plugins you will need to contact plugins developers through the support area or directly via PM

I have ross and they unresponsive which is why I opted to go here and see if others are having similar problems.  Hopefully the User Hint developer will be more responsive.
