Hi,
for developing a plugin, I set up a Turnkey Linux LAMP Virtual Server (using VirtualBox).
After activating developer and debug mode, loading an oxwall page is incredibly slow -- it takes at least 20 to 30 seconds.
Is it normal that the developer mode slows down things like this or is there something I can do to speed things up?

Frank, yes dev mode slows down the website, as it recompiles and clears cache of the website.

I'm aware that developer mode slows things down. Question is if the speed I observe is typical or if I have some kind of mis-configuration.
So, when you turn on developer mode, what is the average time a page in Oxwall needs to load?

There's no such information, as you can have 3rd party theme and a lot of plugins and users amount

Frank, yes dev mode slows down the website, as it recompiles and clears cache of the website.Im having the same problem, the load its very slow, more than 7 seconds.
Its possible to avoid the cache recompilation&clear in dev mode?

Why not just use the extreme cache plugin and turn dev mode off. when you want to clear it and check your work, run the plugin then check your work.. Pages will load normally because dev mode will be off.
This way you can turn debug mode on and leave it on while you work, you can check your work by running the plugin and then the debug will let you know if there is an error, yes you can have your cake and eat it too lol :)

Either that or turn dev mode off and do all your work in the static area, then all your changes are immediate.
