Hello Jan,
I am not an expert on customization but I can guide you, You need to edit the base.css of oxwall.If you need bigger button you need to change the height as well as width.But it will create other problems like small text size.etc so you need to edit that also.

You can apply this style:
.ow_console *{font-size: 15px!important}
However this will increase the buttons when you signed in: I mean messages, notifications other console buttons.
