Since a post of mine went off topic the other day concerning hosting companies and was deleted, I was curious to know or share your opinions on hosting providers for Oxwall.

Currently I use HostforWeb, but recently just opened an Arvixe with plans to migrate.

I like HostForWeb however, I was recommended to try Arvixe. Arvixe has phone support which I feel is a major plus rather going through an email process which can become quite a bit of work when trying to resolve an issue. I plan to test Arvixe before I actually make the move officially.

I am interested know your thoughts on this and invite you to share them here on this thread.

my website is hosted with arvixe, cant really fault them, support is excellent, the phone support is no use to me as i am in the uk would cost me a fortune lol, but i find their forums excellent the staff there have always been great on the couple of occasions i have needed them

would i recommend arvixe - based on my experience then yes i would

I personally self-host my site on a VPS. I have all my ow_userfiles hosted through Amazon S3, so it take a lot of the load off of my server.

Togglebox all the way.... or hostgator as a second, I was with arvixe with my site initially and they seemed good till my site actually had traffic

All sites are going to have problems from time to time but I believe that the true measure of a company is how they handle things during those times.

Oxwall is advertised to and is supposed to work on a shared hosting plan.

I'm currently using a MyHosting VPS.

Preformance is decent.

Only problem is that anytime I use over 5Mbps upload, they email me accusing me of outbound DDoS attacks and threaten to cancel my server, and when I reply asking for more details they fail to respond and deny any of my communications when I contact them regarding the emails.

I plan on moving to a OVH Dedicated server.

MyHosting VPS give you 8 vCore is that real ? Look like scam !!! I think they are not real VPS. It is like a shared hosting !!! Real VPS won't limit you anything within your resource !!!

Of course a VPS provider will limit the amount of resources you use. That's basically what a VPS is. Virtual Private Server. The "Unlimited" VPS Providers are total scams.

Right now, I only trust 2 providers since they have proven themselves over years of operations. I only trust Hostgator or GoDaddy.

Please consider adding Arvixe to "avoid" list. Have 2 sites, one was down for over a day and now 2nd is down going on 2 days. Phone support is non-existent from the worlds greatest to worlds worst in a month. It was great while it lasted but now is a part of the EIG CF group.

Also consider 1and1 for "avoid also" they upgraded my contract without permission and increased amount charged to credit card without permission. Added useless "Features" I would never use or even think about using. They seemed to think email notification was enough and to opt out was a very complex task. So I moved to Arvixe. Think I jumped from the frying pan into fire.

Arvixe did respond to the ticket and said they were aware of the problem. Yeah

Tried Arvixe phone support yesterday and call did get to switching but after 20 minutes on hold, gave up.

Years ago, I had my site hosted on a server, unbeknownst to me, was a popular porn site host. Now that was great service and performance, unfortunately they did away with shared hosting and moved into porn hosting big time.
