A few simple things you can do is promote/advertise via other networks.

Create a few ads for your site and hit up companies/agencies that allow ads on their site (preferably those that are relatively cheap and have a large user base).  That way, your ad can be shown on their website to their user base - which helps promote your website and may draw some people to it.  This can be expensive though.

Other alternatives are:

1. Google Adwords (I think that is what it's called) - most website hosting companies allow their customers a free $50 - $100 worth of free advertising from google, facebook, etc. just for being a customer.  Ask your hosting provider if they offer such items - some will but others may charge for this service.

2. Use other social networks - such as facebook, twitter, youtube, google plus - all these you can create an account for your website.  They even offer developer tools to help integrate services.

3. Oxwall itself helps promote/advertise - there are many features built into the oxwall core software that allows search engines to find your website and place/rank it near the top results - This is called SEO (Search Engine Optimization) - However, you will need to specify certain "keywords" and "descriptions" for your website pages.  There is even a dedicated plugin for this if you want to use that: http://www.oxwall.org/store/item/125

This plugin helps make URLs more user friendly, or rather more easily readable by users AND it allows for adding meta content to each individual page of your website (e.g., keywords, descriptions, etc.).

Once enabled, you can allow your own members to create a banner (or image) which has a link that goes back to your website.  This image/banner can be plastered/posted anywhere by the user.  In return for drawing people to your website, that user gets compensated - hence the affiliate name of this plugin.

5. Reach out via emails/mass mailing regarding your new/existing website to friends, family, etc.  You can even inform people on many different forums out there.

There are a lot of things you can do to promote/advertise your website, but first you need to know who you are wanting to reach out too (e.g., targeted audience/demographics).
