It's a fairly new fresh install yes, And we use a hosting server threw 1and1 and I don't believe there is a way to setup cron threw the cpanel threw them. If so is there a way you could assist me with this, because I have looked everywhere on how setting up a cron job threw the ssh access and it won't push threw for some weird reason.

Dave

Where I am stuck is updating the DB for the messages plugin, how do you do it, you can't do it by clicking that button because the page just refresh and says this page could not be found.

sorry i did not realize this was a new install.   Ok so redoing this is not an issue.   But first you need to figure out the cron, there is no way you can run oxwall without the cron that i know of, it is a must.

So just zap the db, zap the files and plan to start the install over again.  But first before you do anything find out how to do a cron on 1and1.   I had tons of issues with 1and1 a long time ago and ill never go back but thats just me.

Where are you located bobby, USA ?

nevermind i see PA ok there are lots of hosting companies here that are oxwall proficient, i am not trying to hoot my own horn here as there are plenty to choose from, i just happen to own one of them.  So this is not a sales job ok, im just saying i know what im talking about.

so get with 1and1 and figure out the cron deal, if you cant do the cron with them then drop them like a rock and choose someone who is oxwall proficient and hosts them all the time.

Let me know if you need more assistance.

Yeah we are within the USA, and we have to do this seamlessly and I have been running oxwall for the past month with no cron and it worked just fine just up until I tried updating the mailbox and tried updating the plugin DB but nothing happens when I press that button.

That a js issue, and i can almost promise you that its not running fine if your not doing the cron job.  It may seem like it is but the cron is a must.  Once you start putting a load on that site youll see what im talking about and im pretty sure this is one of those times.

did you check the requirements before you installed oxwall?  There is a whole list of them here  www.oxwall.org/hosting

Dave,

If I was to suggest you're company as our hosting provider, which we would need some type of dedication server, because our plan is in the way for offering the best in class services. We are a very large media network in which I've been trying my best to get oxwall to work well with 1and1's servers and keeping things up to date and looking fresh. Please help. I'm so lost, If you have a minute I can talk, business number 567-241-0850.

Kind Regards,

I appreciate that but it would be unethical for me personally to get business that way.  I was just sharing my experience is all.  But thanks for that.

To be honest this might be a deal for a more experienced team member, i say that because i have personally never ran oxwall without a cron.  And i am still convinced that its part of the issue.

Its about 3 hours before the team gets in and signs on.  You can wait for a team member or we can try a few things, it would be stabbing in the dark for me as i said i have never done this on a site with no cron running.

Dave,

We can try a few things to see what we can do, but I do know it's somewhat possible to run the site without a crob, although the updating may seem to take a longer period of time. This I'm so unsure of but I need to find a way to fix this lol, I'm sooo stressing over something prob so small but ugh. I have plenty of time this evening as I will be up.

Kind Regards,

It's called cPanel, well 1&1 Control Panel

The only thing close to that I see is Secure Shell (ssh) Access

Bob Brown Apr 14 '15
Yes that's correct, now I'm downloading the file client, called "putty" to setup the cron job, Once I get this downloaded I'll get it connected to the command window lol.

I have access to the phpmyadmin area or I can download putty and get it connected to the SSH. Which one should I do?
