yes you can export the whole db or just one table via the export link.  but you should have done that before the update, its prob not going to do you any good now unless you have had new members data since last night.   The rule is you back just before you do an update allways ok :)

the issue is that you dont want to mix them, you dont want new files and an old db, or new db and old files.

If the update did any changes to that db, you basically without a paddle to use it. If you go with lastnights backup, you have to use lastnights db or your asking for issues.

I have the backup of the physical files on the server itself. Although the files on the dtabase I'm unsure of how to backthem up from the other night. I'm checking into this real quick like. Should I just over write the existing directory once the backup is finished of the local files that are on the server?

you cant go back and back up the db from the other night, this is not like that. If you have not backed up your db at all then guess what, your starting a fresh install from scratch, hate to tell you that but thats just the deal ya know.

You could have a few days on the server if you set the config for the server to keep a couple of days, i only have my server set for two days  i personally back up all the time on top of that so two days is not an issue for us.

lets hope and pray that you have both the files and the db from the same night saved or you will be doing a fresh install from scratch..

Bobby, the new plugin works with the 1.7. 3 version of the software, which is why you had this error.

Dave is right, please restore your backup then follow the instructions from here: http://www.oxwall.org/forum/topic/24134

Hello Ross,

My physical files on my server, Not my msql file server has been backedup and is on the server now, besides it still says PLATFORM UPDATE REQUEST- The source of Messages plugin was updated and need to update DB Plugin, and is stuck on this page in my admin area keep in mind. And when I go to press update button, it just basicly redirects to my main website and says sorry page could not be found.  Is there any possible way to update the plugin DB manually ?

Let's do this, we'll disable the plugin first, then update the the platform, then enable the plugin back and try to update it's DB

To do this:

1. go to ow_base_plugin table via phpmyadmin, locate messages plugin and put 0(zero) in the column isActive (this should make the message "Update plugin DB" go away)

2. then update the platform, but first do the steps indicated here: http://www.oxwall.org/forum/topic/24134

3. go to ow_base_plugin table via phpmyadmin, locate messages plugin and put 1back in the column isActive and try to update the plugin database again.

Ross, I shall give this a go, Like I said inside the admin panel it won't allow me to go to another page inside of this without that button there. So should I go into phhpmyadmin and zero that out so it will go away and then go inside and deactivate the plugin?

Bobby as I noted disabling the plugin will make the message go away and you'll have the access to other pages in the admin panel and will be able to run the update of the platform.

Ok so actually in order to technically disable the plugin I have to go threw phpmyadmin to do this and not the admin area right now right?
