Plugin works but not with Geolocation IP database? - Advertisement | Forum

Hi,

I installed a fresh copy of:
- Geolocation IP database plugin
- This Advertisement plugin

Once I add a banner and set it on the Global pages and places without using the Geo database, the banner is displayed, but when I use Geolocations the banner isn't displayed (even if I add every country).

I did check my own IP address and it corresponds with the country I added at the GEO options..

I use OW 1.7.5

Ketkew, if the banner does not show up when you set the certain country, this means that the system cannot detect your ISP IP. Seems the ISP IP does not belong to your country. Try to use proxy server (for example: https://hide.me/en/proxy) or proxy connection through the browser to see if other countries can be detected.

Hi,
Thanks, I think you are right about the detection, but it's kind of strange because I'm behind a Zscaler proxy located in Amsterdam, and when I do an IP lookup via http://www.ip2location.com then my address is located in the Netherlands, so it should be detected I suppose, but it unfortunately doesn't. When I visit my site via my phone (Dutch provider with a direct connection), the banner is displayed.

Maybe it's a proxy kind of thing or something I don't know, but I'm convinced that it would work for most proxies or direct connections for sure!

Thanks anyway! :)
