i don't have an actual screenshot right now, but it should look similiar to the screenshot attached.... usually the site asks you for ftp login information to do several updates. If you are not the webmaster you might adress your webmaster for ftp login information.

#1 rule on an update: backup ;)

i don't know many (if any at all) open source, plugin driven plattforms that offer a failsafe update if they support 3rd party developers. then again after all it's FREE software. if you paid for a plugin (that might cause the error) contact the plugin developer. I'm sure Oxwall core issues will be fixed within the next few days.

@ Farnz Stollenwerk

allthough it might sound stupid....: clear browser cache and refresh the page a couple times (i hear that a thousand times from oxwall team by myself)....guess what....sometimes it helps....at least it's worth a try, no? ;)

Some page code is in server side or client cache. I experience this a lot whil costumizing the code and trying to test it (at least while you not in "debug-mode"). Clearing cache's usually fixes a lot of display issues (which might be the case)...

I think you'll also safe staying with the 1.7.5 until hickups are fixed. Personal preferences and "taste" might be an issue of all open source driven projects, but then again there is a chance someone changes even the theme of the admin panel....

personally i like the clean look and feel of the new admin panel....but well...people are different, no? ;)

in my experience (true it's not for sooooo long) are plugins downward compatible a couple releases....so you might to tag along with 1.7.5 first (just my personal opinion)

#I'm not a Oxwall developer or Team member....this is just my personal suggestion

Guys, please perform the update in the following order:

First of all, don't forget to Back up your website.

1. deactivate all third-party plugins.
2. turn on 'Maintenance mode" in Admin Panel >Pages&Menus > Maintenance Page
3. enable DEBUG mode ( set to "true" in ow_includes/config.php)
4. perform platform update.
5. update all native Oxwall plugins. Don't check your site until you update all of them
6. update your theme.
7. enable DEV mod in ow_includes/config.php
8. Turn "Maintenance Mode" off.
9. refresh any site page and disable DEV MODE: define('OW_DEV_MODE', false);

We've tested update and if you do it in a right way, you won't face issues.

Thanks to Marc, Franz and Taissa. I checked around a little in the forum and decided to let it like it be. Somebody once told me, why change good working things? LOL.

But to Marc for my plugin updates: can you please tell me where i can find this screen you posted. i checked all menu points (to configure ftp) but should be explanation for the old version since i will not update now. I am a real dummy in websites and sooooo tired of find out how to fix errors .

Und an Franz. Danke fuer den tip, war nahe dran upzugraden.

Helmut, our position is that we strongly recommend keeping the Software up-to-date.  In every update we improve functionality, enhance security, fix major and minor bugs. To improve your site you will need to update it (both platform and plugins).
You can find instruction on how to update Oxwall software here: https://docs.oxwall.org/install:update. In your case you can choose manual update as an option.
