Hi to all, I'm just beginning to use oxwall and one of the first things I noticed is that it wants you to enter FTP access for updating plugins/platform...

Why?

Other CMS like wordpress don't need such informations, they simply download and update.

Thank you, goodbye

Nic, as Tammy said, auto updates work in the same way as you know it on WordPress:
- you should put ftp details once for updating all plugins and themes within the one session. Oxwall never stores FTP details in DB. It uses it only once each time a new plugin update/installation is performed.
During the software updating process you need to once enter FTP credentials,  because software needs to overwrites files due to new changes.

But does oxwall send these FTP details to the place from which it gets the updates? I mean, if I'm updating a plugin got from the oxwall store, will my instance of oxwall send the FTP credentials to the store for getting the update?

Thank you

Nic, when you click the Update button our software sends a request to the Store whether the update pack is available. If the update pack is available, software receive this pack and now you need to upload it to your site. In this step you required to fill in the FTP credentials. For example, if you use manual update option, you will  need to login your FTP account and upload pack. So, we just make auto update more comfortable. You use our Admin Area to login your FTP account instead of using FTP client application.
