I barely understand what you are saying. Please clarify "The box". As far as I know, there are some steps for you to troubleshoot the issue.
Please make sure you are using latest version of the plugin v1.1.3, as you not yet own a license, so please download latest version from github page to upgrade it manually.
These features are working on my demo sites:

In case some other 3rdparty plugins may cause the conflict, you can access the plugin setting to disable Groups and Events integration. see this:

Also, after disable Forum and Group, please use SEO Cache cleaner and check "all other pages", then Clean it up.
