Everything is very logical, they disappear from main newsfeed and profile newsfeed, as you profile and newsfeed can be visible for everybody and that contradicts to the privacy setting you applied which is why those newsfeed items are not visible, otherwise anyone can enter your profile and see those photos, but you want to show them to friends only.
