I am trying to install oxwall from the cpanel/ softaculous installer but am getting the fatal error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in /home/velocitycrew/public_html/ow_includes/init.php on line 34

so i looked at line 34 and it is "UTF-8", tried to change it to ISO-8859-1, Didn't help.

I then tried to install by uploading it manually and exact same fatal error message.

i contacted the hosting company and they said it has to be a oxwall problem as they already run several different oxwall sites perfectly and i confirmed the server and ip of the sites iastra.net , cfclive.net , paidplayer.net all working fine.

so how do i fix this

You need to enable mb_string on your server. Contact your hosting provider to do so.

hi Ross,

thanks for getting back to me so fast, finally got mb_string installed after a few tries, this is the solution that worked for me:

now i just have to install zip php and it should be good to go

as you can see here iastra.info hosting is now compatible with oxwall again.
