Just wondering if there is any way of adding the new mobile theme that was released with 1.8.1 onto an oxwall site running 1.8 without updating?

It's part of the updated Simplicity theme. It should work fine by just updating the theme. Just to have the 1.8 theme on hand. Make a backup, and place it in a different folder on your server before updating the theme. Just to make sure. That way, if something doesn't work, you can revert back to the original theme.

No need to update the theme, you can just replace the mobile folders, it should work
