When I downloaded via another route the set-up gives me an error : OW_URL_HOMEe500.php too many redirects. Mod_rewrite is set and the folders have been set to 777, where appropriate. 
I am using a subfolder on an test IP.  i.e.   1.2.3.4.5/oxwall

I have read this:

Make sure you have indicated correct domain for the HOME URI  in config.php file

Which config file? I can't see a HOME URI , just OW_DIR_ROOT and it looks as if this is set by an env file.

Make sure you have default .htaccess file in the root of the software. 

I guess so as it came with it.
