You said that you specify the 5.6 version in .htaccess which is being overwritten everytime I upload the update pack. Which is why I uploaded everything but the original .htaccess file stayed put.
So I ran the update again and the issue was gone.

Thanks, guys! This may actually explain why I had so many issues with upgraded to 1.8 as well. I made the necessary changes in the .htaccess file to update the server PHP version to 5.4, but if Oxwall was overwriting it with the update, no wonder I was banging my head against the wall.
I'm going to give a crack at this. Thanks for figuring this out, guys. Hopefully Bluehost will be well-behaved for me. I'd certainly love to get my site updated to the latest version.
