I just hit the update button from the dashbaord, and not my site is completely down. How can I sort this, or is there a way I can revert the update?

Thanks in advance.

The only way to revert the update is to restore from a backup, lets hope you made one.

As to the issue, do you have php 5.5 installed

You can ask for a backup to your hosting provider.
You just need to open a ticket to the support area
asking to restore back the site to the nearest date.
You will lost the data from that date to the date of the problem.

Anyway I think is better that have the site down.

Yes just be aware that some hosts charge up to $75 for a restore, not all do but some do.
