The strange part is that the photo shows no comments however it does show on userx profile but again without any comment nor like.

Please provide screenshot of that user profile where we can see the newsfeed item with your photo and user comment and screenshot of the photo in the popup without a comment.
As we cannot reproduce that

there's no any comment, except in the notifications you got, the user must have deleted them, this is not a bug.
