I have updated the plugin but there is a strange thing happening to the newsfeed: in the dashboard, it only show the user's update, and in the homepage everyone's. Is it normal?

Yes, it's normal. In dashboard user can browse his own and friends activity only. And there is all site activity listed on site homepage newsfeed.
Such newsfeed behavior was implement in earlier versions too.
