For most of the hosts SSL configuration steps are:

1. generate CSR from server's cPanel.
2. pass CSR to certificate authrotiry. receive CRT from them.
3. upload CRT to server's cPanel.
4. install certificiate on cPanel
5. change URL to H T T P S  in ow_includes/config.php file.

Most likely you missed step 4 or 5.

There is a process you go thru for that.  Are you on shared hosting or do you have your own dedicated server?  

What kind of cert did you buy, you need to get one that will allow you to do both your host name and your normal domain. 

Ie...   host.example.com  and  example.com 

some certs do not support host certs (there is technical name for them but i dont remember it right off) 

also remember that some certs if you do it for www they will support www and without www, and some dont.  It depends on how cheap you go and where you get them.

Be sure to ask before you buy, ask and ask and ask some more if you have any questions, because once you buy them thats it your stuck with it.

DONT FORGET TO CHECK THE BOX UNDER YOUR URL SO YOU DONT END UP ON THE LIST. 

you basically will get the lock if you dont have any images that are not https, if you have the right cyphers listed, if your site passes security checks for stuff like poodle and others, and there are more rules that follow. 

google ssl padlock and you will find info on that.

google mixed content and there are tons of help guides to help  you solve that issue.  I cant help you because you know your site better than anyone and youll need to decide which content is mixed and what resources are not https
