Is there a way to moderate the avatar on the sign-up page? The user can upload an avatar while signing up and it will be shown without going through moderation.

Hello?? This is important..
It is not fun to see d*** pics and nude pics as avatars for all of my users to see.....!

Sorry it took a while to respond.
The avatar approval passes with a user approval process since this is a part of the profile information. If you want to check the avatar before approve them after registration, we suggest to enable the users approval process. Thus after a user joined your website, you will be able to check the information he/she provided and their avatar.
If you want to be able to check the avatars only, this possible as the custom code modification.
