Plugins for Sending SMS [Open Discussion] | Forum

Purusothaman Ramanujam
I am trying to develop a new plugin for sending SMS.

Its based on Twilio (https://www.twilio.com) which costs 1 cent per sms all around the world.

The idea is that users of the oxwall site and send sms to other users/friends around the world.

Need your ideas and suggestions for the plugin.

also amazon is very inexpensive   http://aws.amazon.com/sns/

Amazon SNS requires that users should be added to the Subsription Topic to be able to receive notifications, which I feel is not good.

Can you share the gtalk notification link, if you have.

my idea is that this needs to be a user role that users haft to pay membership for to cover admins coast. So if its one cent per sms, then for each role needs a limmet of sms per user so admin can earn cash, plus users get the use of sms notifications.

Let me know if you like this idea

Jeo: Yes. I have already considered this. Anyhow thanks for your idea too..

Paul: Thanks :)

thanks purus, one more question, how would this work on admins behaft? What i mean is how do this work for admins?
Purusothaman Ramanujam
Jeo: Admin needs to setup the API details. They can decide who can send sms.Thats it.

Hi Purus,

Great idea, I will be interested in this plugin for sure.

-For me will be a similar option to PM

-Will it be a one way send SMS only? or thinking of incorporating reply path as well?

-Admin to define who can send SMS based on role.

-User to define if/not can be contactable via SMS.

-Ability for Admin to configure 'from Address' in SMS...

-Option for users to Opt out.

-Payment for SMS by User Credits, Admin to define credits required to send SMS.

-Ability to SMS multiple Users, All friends, all invitees to an event (Very useful this one)

-Admin to be able to view stats on SMS transactions to be able to reconcile it with reports from SMS vendor.

-Ability to handle undelivered messages.

I am sure you have considered all of this + more...

Thanks, I will be watching this space!

Let me get it straight. The Admin pay all the bills accumulated. Like prepaid?
Purusothaman Ramanujam
I have this plugin already which sends notifications like new friend request, new message.

It depends on the plan that you chose with the SMS gateway. Charge per SMS or prepaid.
