I’ve tested oxwall on a test sub domain and I think I’m good to get started with my live site. However I have a few questions.

1. I’m presently on a shared hosting, if I start out with it and upgrade to a dedicated server with the same hosting company, is it most likely I’ll have a lot of issues with my website when files are transfer and when the IP is changed? If yes, what issues are most likely to happen and how severe will it be, and how long will my website most likely be offline? I’m not a web developer and I’ll like to know if I’ll get lots of headache with the changes especially with the IP address. I’m asking so I can decide if I should upgrade first and start my live site on the dedicated server. Although I’m on a tight budget and would prefer to start with the shared hosting, use most of my funds for marketing purposes for now then gradually move up. But if I’ll get lots of headache that will require users I’ve invested a lot in to be discouraged that my website is offline or not functioning well, then I’ll rather start up with a dedicated server.

2. For the plugins and themes i purchased and I’ve tested on a sub domain test site, can I still use those licenses uninterrupted on the live site or if I have to start up with the dedicated server which will be a different IP address. I noticed my current IP address is presently logged in via my purchases.

Thanks for keeping this forum useful especially for newbies like me.

When switching host there are certain procedures you should follow.

These procedures depend on certain factors like if your IP and Database is going to be changing.

You'll need to backup your database and your files beforehand.

Then setup your new server and restore both of those accordingly.

Your plugins / themes licenses will need to be reset which just resets the IP address they're licensed to and then you can reapply the keys.

It's not extremely difficult or anything, but there are issues that can arise, so just let us know and the community will help you.

Dedicated is always preferred over shared, but Oxwall will work on either.

if u stay on shared hosting and only upgrade to more resorses then ur good. switching to vps or dedicated server will require do the whole prosses from scratch upload db files and connect all that. if u are a newbie it could result in issues.

IP AND SSL will case no issues.

Choose shared hosting that allows dedicated ip and upgrades ti be purchased.
