Solution 1: Restart QuickBooks Database Server Manager
Press "Ctrl + Shift + Esc" to open the Task Manager.
Go to the "Processes" tab and look for any instances of "dbmlsync.exe" or "qbdbmgrn.exe."
Select the processes related to QuickBooks Database Server Manager and click "End Process" for each.
Close the Task Manager.
Restart the QuickBooks Database Server Manager:
Open the "Run" dialog by pressing "Windows + R."
Type "services.msc" and press Enter.
Locate "QuickBooksDB" or "QBCFMonitorService" in the list.
Right-click and select "Restart."
Open QuickBooks again and check if the error is resolved.
Solution 2: Verify QuickBooks Database Server Manager is Installed Correctly
Ensure that the QuickBooks Database Server Manager is installed on the server where the company file is stored.
If not installed, you can install it from the QuickBooks installation disk or download the latest version from the official QuickBooks website.
Solution 3: Check Hosting Settings
Open QuickBooks on the computer that displays Error 40001.
Go to the "File" menu and select "Utilities."
If you see "Host Multi-User Access," choose that option. If you see "Stop Hosting Multi-User Access," select it.
Confirm your selection and follow any prompts.
Repeat these steps on all computers connected to the company file.
