Reset a user's Profile to Default settings? | Forum

Is there some way that admin's can go in and reset a user's Profile to Default?  I ask this because we have a number of users on our site who have messed up their profile pages and can not edit them.  We have found no way for Admin's top go in and do anything on the user's profile page.  If we are missing something, please tell us how to do it.  If this does not exist, then it should be implemented ASAP!

No answer??  I guess nobody else seems to be having these issues.  What are we doing wrong?  What are we missing here???

What do you mean by mess up? Are you referring to the values added by your users? or any custom widgets? Or any other customizations?

just go to your member's profile page and just above and to the right of your member's info will be "edit profile details", but it won't show unless you run your cursor over it.....

in other words, it is hidden until you run your cursor over it

If you looking to reset the custom html and other stuffs in an user's profile widget, profile edit wont work.

sounds like he's just referring to the ability to go in and change variables...he's saying he can't find ANY way of editing member profile.

In Oxwall 1.5 admin can do that without any external plugins. Profile edit by admin is in core of 1.5

OK, a little more clarification is in order here.  Sorry for any misunderstanding in the statements above.
What I am referring to is the "My Profile" Page.   Certain users have had issues when adding HTML boxes to their profile Page.  In some cases, it is as if there is a layer over the top of the page, preventing anyone from accessing any of the buttons or tabs on that page, including Admin's.  The only way we could remedy that was to delete the account and have the user start a new one.
I was hoping there was another way for Admin's to go into these pages and either fix it or reset the profile page to its default settings without having to delete that account.  We have been unable to find any settings that allow this.   Since the use of HTML boxes is a highly used feature on our site, I think we should have some means of controlling them.

i agree, i think admins should be able to see the customise button on members profiles,

so anyone is it possible for admin to customise their members profiles, if it isnt then it should be

we have already asked the same question here before but it got no response

I guess the answer is no then.  We are consulting with some programmers to see if maybe we can develop a program that will make this possible.
Thanks to all who responded.

Thank you so much!  I think this will do exactly what we need it to do.  Going to order it straight away. :):)

How to remove Custom HTML widgets added by users to the "My Profile" page if you are a site administrator.

What is needed: debugger, access to the database.

User "Jane" has added a Custom HTML widget called "Test" to her profile. Added custom HTML doesn't function properly and "Customize this Page" option is no longer visible. What to do?

1. Visit Jane's profile page. Right mouse click on the "Test" widget>>Inspect Element with "Firebug" or any other debugger>>find  the entity of the widget in place. In my case it is:

ow_box ow_stdmargin clearfix entity-5110c5f27c286 ow_break_word

2. Copy the entity ID ( in my case :entity-5110c5f27c286)
3. Go to your database>>ow_base_component_entity_position  table >>click "search">>paste copied entity ID as shown in the screen shot bellow>>click "Go"

4. Delete found entity.

5. Go to ow_base_component_place_cache table.
Select everything you have within this table and delete.

6. Go to "Jane"s profile. "Test" custom HTML widget should not be there anymore.

This is a custom code modification.

You will need to hire a programmer to do that for you. You can do that here: http://www.oxwall.org/market/specialists

Also, you can create a topic in the custom code modification section, probably some community members will assist you in that.
