Is it possible to disable all the "X and Y are now friends" notification on the dashboard?

I have added a friend and it is not showing that we are now friends. How may I resolve this issue? I have the settings selected properly.

1. your users privacy settings ( my preferences>>privacy)
2. your newsfeed settings ( admin panel>>plugins>>newsfeed>>settings>>content).

2. What are privacy settings of the other person?
