What is the purpose of the notification button in the top menu. It is blank and I cannot see anywhere to send out a notification?

you will get a notification once i comment on this ... thats the use

Any activities that happens on your items like blogs, groups, forums, etc will be notified over there.

Always create a new topic for our own question. Do not post in others post which makes difficult for you and everyone to follow.
