Exciting news! Microsoft is giving Azure AD a fresh name - Microsoft Entra ID. Rest assured, this name change doesn't alter the essence of the multi-tenant, cloud-based directory and identity management service that has been empowering employees for years. With Microsoft Entra ID, users can still enjoy the convenience of accessing multiple services seamlessly using a single set of login credentials over the cloud.

Imagine Microsoft Entra ID as your information traffic police officer in a cloud-only environment. It efficiently processes access requests, granting users access only to the areas their security permissions allow, just like a file server/domain controller.

The best part? Existing clients using Azure AD today or in the process of deploying it in their organizations need not take any action. Microsoft Entra ID smoothly takes over the role of Azure AD without any disruption. Your current deployments, configurations, integrations, capabilities, and features will remain unaffected. Licensing plans, pricing, and service level agreements for Azure AD and Microsoft 365 plans inclusive of Azure AD will remain unchanged. The transition to Microsoft Entra ID is purely a display name change, keeping all functionalities intact.

You can confidently continue using Microsoft Entra ID, as it retains the same URLs, APIs, PowerShell cmdlets, and libraries within the Microsoft identity platform, ensuring a seamless experience without any impact on your work.
