I'm pretty new to cycling. I enjoy it a lot, but I'm clueless about its repair and maintainance. I've recently noticed that my disk brakes started rubbing. It there a way to stop it?

One of the most common reasons a disc brake is rubbing is the brake caliper is misaligned with the disc rotor. It is imperative the caliper is centered properly. If it isn't, the disc will scrape against either the brake pad or on the inside of the caliper body.

I follow these steps to stop bike disc brakes from rubbing:

1. Spin the wheel and identify which brake pad is rubbing.
2. Loosen the caliper mounting bolts.
3. Squeeze the brake lever to center the caliper, then retighten the bolts evenly.
4. Check clearance between the rotor and brake pads.
5. Repeat adjustments if needed, ensuring even pad-to-rotor spacing.

6. Take a test ride to confirm that the rubbing is eliminated.

Hopefully, this guide will also be helpful for you.
