Greetings!

Android applications offer many benefits to developers. Yes, Android development is cross-platform, covers a big market share, and has great community support. Moreover, it is highly customizable when you build Android applications. So, as a startup company, we initiated to develop our applications with Android.

Withal, we are only confused about the use of a Backend service to build the server side of our application. Indeed, we are thinking of benefiting from a BaaS platform to build Android applications.

Hereof, we shortlisted Firebase and Back4app. Although the tutorial for building backend of Android app seems easy to use if we use Back4app but, we are not ignoring Firebase.

The interface of Firebase is seamless to use, but I heard about vendor lock-in and closed-source nature of Backend as a Service. On the other hand, Back4app doesn’t offer Google-backed cloud service as Firebase provides.

What’s your take on it?
