Causes for QuickBooks error 20102
  • When the user has an active DD (Direct Deposit) on the Employer Identification Number, this error occurs.
  • When the user tries to link to an EIN that is linked to a separate account directly.
  • Inadequate installation of the QuickBooks program.
  • Damaged Windows registry.
  • While QuickBooks program property not mounted on the user’s PC. This may lead to the framework’s incompatibility to open the complete program due to specialized or human errors.
  • When software erases QuickBooks related files unintentionally.

Check Your Payroll Subscription:

Ensure that your QuickBooks Payroll subscription is active and up to date. Verify your subscription status with Intuit to confirm that there are no issues with your payroll service.


Reset QuickBooks Updates:

Sometimes, issues with updates can lead to this error. Resetting the QuickBooks updates can help.

Go to the Help menu and select "Update QuickBooks."

In the Update QuickBooks window, go to the Update Now tab and check the Reset Update box.

Click the Get Updates button.

After the update is complete, close and reopen QuickBooks.


Update QuickBooks Desktop:

Ensure that you are using the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop. Outdated software can cause various errors.

Go to the Help menu and select "Update QuickBooks."

Click on the Update Now tab and follow the instructions to update your QuickBooks software.


Repair QuickBooks Installation:

If updating QuickBooks does not resolve the issue, try repairing your QuickBooks installation.

Go to the Windows Control Panel, select Programs, and then click on Uninstall a Program.

Locate QuickBooks in the list, right-click it, and choose Repair. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the repair.
