and the picture was resized and made it look funny.
Picture in original was sized 96x150 pixels and was resized to 96x140
Correct resize should be to 90x140 when aspect ratio is preserved

I made a simple photo cropping of the leftmost person
from a picture I found on the Oxwall Main page http://demo.oxwall.org/
I made the cropped image 100x175 px
and then I uploaded this picture to an album on my site
in the Photo album preview of the picture
now both cropped and resized to 100x140 px by the photo upload
and shown with this html code and really looks bad:
img src="http://mydomain.com/...to_preview_20028.jpg" width="140" height="140"
and in the Picture display the picture is correct with original size 100x175
and the html code is not forcing any browser changes to the picture
but I was surprised to find the class name being "photo_preview_image"

I have attched both pictures from my Oxwall directory on the web host:

That it is :) All photo's preview are resizes to 140x140 and script makes with their square previews. It was done specially for better look&feel of all pages with photo's preview. In some cases this feature can corrupt photos or extend it by with or height (as in you example with photo 100x175), but in most cases, we hope, this method gives better look&feel for all pages with photo previews.

You are wrong this is a bug in the Photo plugin
Why can't your picture handling be consistent all over the site?
If I upload the same picture as a Profile picture the display is OK
