It would also be amazing if you could add a video by simply pasting the Youtube url instead of having to use the embed code.

Most of users do not know how to find the embed code and very often I have to edit their video post to make it work. 9 time out of ten they have used the url instead of the embed code.

what is easier would be like a bbcode just copy every after v=  up to the &  sign so basically you are just posting the code itself, the rest of the url is taken care of by the system.

Easy fix for this one folks. It's not an Oxwall error.

Youtube got sloppy. For example src="www.youtube.com/embed/pjGEeYT_oDg" should read src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/pjGEeYT_oDg"

Put the http: in front of the www and you will get thumbnails.

Since I think Google and Youtube are evil but still use them for Vevo music videos I am not writing them to inform them.

@ Tbird... Seems you did not read the previous post... Frank DiPietro gave that temporary fix as well.. Oxwall have to update the video plugin.. Try Dailymotion, it has the Http:// but shows no thumbnails... Do you expect every user to always add Http:// before posting a video in your site... Some cant even find the Youtube embed code more or less adding Http:// to it

I did read the previous posts. I read all the posts in this thread. Yes, I expect the users to add http:. My dailymotion embed works fine and has not been down. Seems you have not studied this problem thoroughly. I don't take kindly to you accusing me of not reading something. Put a news demo out saying to add http: until youtube puts proper code in place or hire a programmer to write a script to fix  or wait until Oxwall fixes YouTube's sloppy coding. I offer solutions while you offer personal attacks. Don't bother responding directly to me anymore. I do not want to associate with your negativity.

@ TBird - I believe that youtube has purposely removed the http at the front of their embed code in order to support https. Im not sure why or how it works but I read a while back that youtube amongst other sites would eventually use only HTTPS for more secure browsing.

Chris

Makes sense although they should have gave people a warning instead of dropping the http: overnight. For now I simply add the http:.

A lot people are trying to get away from YouTube so I suggest Oxwall add many more video embed sites or a way to generate our own thumbs like PHPFOX does. YouTube's promotion of violence over nudity is sickening to me. As you can tell I am not a fan of YouTube but Vevo uses them so I embed music videos via YouTube. I am using DailyMotion more because they allow topless babes. :-).

Hi TBird,

You can add any embedded video by updating the settings in the admin pannel to allow video's from that site.

I have not had to do it for a while but i am sure it is still possible.

Hey Shaun

Do you know the code to insert a thumbnail image in a flash file? True, you can embed video files from most places but on some sites I can't figure out how to get the thumbnails to show.

Ah I see, sorry Tbird i don't but I think puros has put a video plugin in the store that lets you set a thumbnail.

Not the answer you wanted but one possability.

Quote from ross Guys, we'll soon release a fix for that bug. Thank you for your patience.

When is this fix coming..!! Most people use Oxwall for professional business and don't need long wait all the time to fix issues..!! There should always be pro-technical teams to address urgent issues & fix. Close to 2-3 weeks now oxwall and entire team never found a solution..! Not quite professional.

Is there an update on the progress on this issue?

Is there a date for the fix yet?

Regarding the fix for youtube videos. Please refer to this topic: http://www.oxwall.org/forum/topic/12080 .

1. There you can find a fix for videos uploaded via media panel
2. Fix for "Video" plugin. This one is not relevant anymore, since we have updated "Video" plugin itself, and you should have got update notice in your admin panel.

Currently developers are working on creating the fix for thumbnails of youtube videos within the newsfeed. Other then newsfeed part, everything is fixed.  If you find any bugs, feel free to create the topic under "Bugs reports and troubleshooting" section of the forum.

Hi Oxwall Team,

Just a short note to let you know:

(a) I was experiencing the same problem when embedding videos from Vimeo.com (i.e. a blank thumbnail in the newsfeed). I had thumbnails before the recent video plugin update, but after the update no thumbnails.

(b) The practical fix, was to roll back the video plugin code to what it was before the update. Simple to do, just copy the plugins "video" folder from the Oxwall common 1.5.3 release, then upload it to the same destination on my Oxwall website (overwriting the updated "video" folder and contents).

Not a fix I recommend normally, but now have thumbnails in newsfeed like before : )

Cheers

@Allen  thanks, question for you, would you keep the updated version of the video plugin if you had a nice default image to use until they get this fixed or do you HAVE to have to thumbnail.
