I'm on dreamhost and set the cron job using their handy tool. However, their tool doesn't like me pick "every minute". I can pick "every 10 minutes" or pick the individual minutes. It seems I can have then start on minute (0,5,10.... 55). But I can't pick more than 12 separate minutes.
I figured I could 'trick' Dreamhost and run multiple identical cronjobs. But they seem to be on to that and request I not set up multiple cronjobs with the same control values.
I know that by hook or by crook, I can eventually run every minute. But my questions is: What happens if I run the '....run.php' cronjob only once every 5 minutes? Other than my learning curve, my site seems to be functional.

The Cron simply put. Sends out emails, Notifications, and runs extra stuff for plugins, also updates the IM system and users online. Every min is the best setting but every 5 mins the cron still does the same-thing.

Using third party webcron like easycron.com.
EasyCron allows scheduling cron jobs run every minute.
