I have several oxwall sites and this is how I set them up. I own the domains, I own the hosting accounts with bluehost so I have complete control and access to my server and etc.
1. Oxwall site type A: A private site that is locked down to where I am the only one who has access. When you click join you get the "this site is closed to registration" Basically the default way of locking a site down. I turn off all views and guest views for any and all plugins I use. I have found the "Facebook" like site with the additional plugins not available on Facebook an excellent way to organize projects, set up a study hub for a certification i am studying for, a site to load and keep all my work related documents and references handy along with the ability to add notes and reminder as well as keep my calendar. I can see this sites from my work computer, my personal computer as well as mobile phone and tablet.
2. Oxwall site type B: this site is set up like a Facebook social media site specifically for myself and one other person. It is also locked down like the site described above and can be use for the same things as above along with the ability to have private conversations that area more secure in that all this is on my server. Also when my best friend from high school and I get so busy that we cannot spend a lot of time on the phone, leaving the messages from two people many states apart for when the other can get to it is extremely helpful. We are also able to get detailed in lending support with life's issues.
WHAT I NEED TO KNOW: For the very first page (the sign in page)
1. What file do I need to change to get rid of the "Join" action link? Since nobody gets to join, I do not want it on the page.
2. What file or where specifically do I need to go to remove the default welcome text "welcome to our community...etc" I could replace it with something else if I must, but would rather it not be there at all.
IN OTHER WORDS:
when you type in the URL you get the theme's default field for user name, password and the forgot password link.
Oxwall is an amazing asset to personally manage your personal and professional like. This is my experience with Oxwall. I also see the potential as an actual social network. :-)
Thank you reading all that I have written and if you have any insight, I am most grateful for your taking to time to provide it.
May you site or sites bring you as much joy as mine do me,
Sandy
