I do not see I have any problem with oxwall here. As many know, I bought many plugins and most can not be used, too many bugs. But a lot is used without any problem. When it comes to themes, there is probably not a single theme that is without a problem, apart from the standard theme then. But I have adapted a lot in the theme I use.
When it comes to this Emil, I think he is a little too self-absorbed, when he can abandon such a project, which actually has great development opportunities. Why does he not sell oxwall as a software that people can buy? In that way, he would have made money on such a further development of oxwall. And if he has no interest in running the project further, he could at least release oxwall free under the gnu public license, so that people were free to further develop it.
I think Emil shows clear ingratitude and disrespect towards all those who for many years have supported the project. Had I had him in front of me I would have said; Pull yourself together. I started and ran Sweden's largest dental health campaign for several years, over; https://www.mittskifte.org/petitions/tanderna-er-ocksa-en-del-av-kroppen-skriv-under-och-dela-vidare My name is still further down the page. "Det här är en namninsamling som startades av Ketil Ervik, men som nu tagits över av Skiftet. Tack till Ketils engagemang över åren." But this year I handed over the campaign to "The Skiftet"
It was this option or put the whole campaign dead! I chose to let the campaign continue to grow, hoping that politicians in the future might give everyone free dental care. In Sweden, there are many hundreds of thousands of people with missing teeth who cannot afford to knock on the dentist's door.
This is one example for Emil to take over and stop being so selfish.
But, if you manage to develop a completely new social network software under completely different conditions, which works better than oxwall! and that you can convert the plugins you use today in oxwall today to such software! Well, then I'm in. As you know, I can translate into Swedish and Norwegian.
But I remember that there were two other projects / copies of oxwall that tried to develop oxwall further, they disappeared.
I believe in constantly evolving projects.
I believe in quality over quantity when it comes to developing plugins and themes. Unfortunately, there were far too many developers / sellers of plugins who set goals and make the most of plugins, instead of finishing plugins in a serious way, and making sure that any bugs disappeared. But as we know today, it did not happen.
When it comes to themes, I have previously mentioned that; Those who develop completed themes for such software should automatically have access to all plugins developed for the same software. That way, developers of themes can face any problems in their themes in relation to the various plugins, if any users contact about the problem! So the collaboration between plugin developers and theme developers is incredibly important.
I think it's okay for developers to sell their plugins, but with this, it should come with a sense of responsibility towards customers. Would be unnecessary to address. But I would argue that this does not have every widespread philosophy on the oxwall store. Therefore, I think that all plugins and themes should go through a test, before they can be put up for sale or for free on Store.
I also think it is possible to charge for a new oxwall similar software, as long as it is sold at a reasonable price. But then of course under a clear license which means that of course only the developers of the software can further develop it. If there are guarantees for the ongoing development of such software, which works satisfactorily at a reasonably acceptable price, then I think anyone who has an interest in running such software would have bought or subscribed it. In this context, I do not believe in volunteer donors. In that case, it would have to be if the software was free.
